Early Learning

Fun. Play. Imagination.

That’s what physical activity should be for children in their early years. We’ll help you build your knowledge and skills as an educator and help the children in your care learn how to crawl, walk, run, jump, balance, kick, throw and more. We promise they will love every minute of it.

About KIDDO

Getting kids aged from birth – 5 years moving. Building their physical literacy. Helping them to have fun. And developing the skills, motivation and confidence to be active for life. That’s what KIDDO is all about!

KIDDO was born from world-class exercise and sport science research at The University of Western Australia. We translate the latest research into online resources and tools that support primary school teachers, early childhood educators, parents and carers deliver physical literacy programs to children. They’re all designed to nurture a love of physical activity that will last a lifetime.

What is Physical Literacy?

Put simply, it is the skills, motivation, confidence and knowledge to be active.

Why is it so important?

Children are spending more time playing indoors and on screens than outdoors and in the park. As a result, many are failing to develop the basic building blocks of movement such as running, throwing, kicking, catching, jumping and balancing.

The challenge is not only to help children develop these fundamental movement skills but to also want to be physically active – understanding why regular physical activity is so important to their futures.

Early Learning Programs

We come to you! That’s right, we come to your facility!

Physical literacy is a core element of building a healthy, active society. It provides kids with the confidence, motivation, skills and knowledge for continued lifelong active participation. In recent years children have become less physically active for a variety of reasons, both at home and at school, which is leading to more complex issues within society and our healthcare systems.

KIDDO Gippsland is the perfect resource to help you deliver the Early Years Learning Framework and build the confidence and motivation of your students at the same time. We provide:

  • The tools, resources, and knowledge to build your confidence to deliver high-quality physical literacy sessions
  • Continued support and learning opportunities
  • A focus on fun (both for the kids and you!)
  • A proven model – it works! Our research shows that KIDDO improves both the confidence and skills of kids aged 3-5
